Advanced In-Person Training

Advanced In-Person Training emphasizes Graston Technique (GT) therapy examination and treatment approaches for musculoskeletal dysfunction/mechanical pain that can be applied in all patient cases.

Components of the GT therapy examination will include movement loss, lesion localization and resistive testing. Preventative/corrective exercises to augment the GT therapy intervention will be discussed.

Participants will learn to select and implement the most efficient and effective GT therapy interventions, while restoring function and alleviating pain. The goal of this course is to advance the student or clinician’s skills in the successful management of musculoskeletal dysfunction using Graston Technique therapy and movement.

Hour 0 – 0.5

Participants will identify & discuss the effects, benefits, physiological responses, indications & contraindications for the Graston Technique® based on empirical evidence regarding manual therapy and its effects on the human neuromyofascial system.

Hour 0.5 – 1.5

Participants will review & then demonstrate proper handholds and m1 treatment strokes using GT instruments.

Participants will identify & discuss the human neuromyofascial system with regard to its physiology, and structural considerations.

Hour 3 – 4.5

Participants will view the demonstration of, and then practice additional Advanced strokes (IA Skin Rolling, c-bowing, fascial spiral, pin and stretch/glide, interface rock/scoop).

 

  • Laboratory practice reviewing most common applications of IA Skin Roll, C-Bowing, Fascial Spiral, Pin and Stretch/Glide, Interface Rock/Scoop (regional applications); without then with movement & load

Participants will identify & discuss functional testing & its role in determining the dysfunction in the human neuromyofascial system.

Participants will view a demonstration of then practice GT Advanced techniques to improve mobility & motor control of the abdominal wall, diaphragm & anterior pelvis.

Participants will identify & discuss concepts related to tendinopathy (specifically tendinosis) in light of most recent empirical evidence.

Hour 10.5 – 11

Participants will view a demonstration of, and then practice GT tendinosis protocol on selected ue & le cases.

  • Rotator Cuff Tendinosis & Epicondylosis, Hamstring, Patellar & Achilles Tendinosis
  • Includes Active Learning Lab: Participants will be given a clinical case of tendinosis (specific level of acuity) & will demonstrate a GT treatment progression based on concepts learned in tendinosis lecture/lab
