Receive Confirmation Email
Check your email inbox for a confirmation message from Graston Technique. This email will contain your login credentials and instructions on how to access the course portal.
Log In to the Course Portal
Using the credentials you created for your user account, log in to the course portal by navigating to your account page. Familiarize yourself with the interface and explore the available resources.
Progressing Through the Course
Begin with “Section 1: Introduction & Course Overview” and continue through the sections sequentially.
Take the Essential Final Exam
After completing all sections, you will take a comprehensive final exam that tests your knowledge and understanding of the course material.
Participant Evaluation Survey
Provide feedback on your learning experience by completing the Participant Evaluation Survey.
Complete You Virtual Practical Skills Assessment
In addition to the Final Exam, passing of the GT Practical Skills Assessment is required to complete the Self-Paced Essential Training. Upon submitting the survey you can expect to receive an email from one of our Clinical Advisors within 72 hours to setup your virtual Skills Assessment.
Receive Certificate of Completion
Upon successfully passing the final exam and assessments, you will receive your official Graston Technique Certificate of Completion via email.
Earn Your CEUs
You will receive a certificate of course completion, which includes all the relevant information needed to submit to your state licensing board for 12 Continuing Education Units (CEUs).

It is ideal for those seeking maximum flexibility without compromising the depth of their learning experience.
Hour 0 – 2.5
Participants will identify & discuss the effects, benefits, physiological responses, indications & contraindications for the Graston Technique.
- Welcome and Introduction to Graston Technique
- History, physiological rationale of IASTM, principles relating to soft tissue dysfunction
- Clinical Foundations to GT
- Effects of GT on the fascial system
- Indications & Contraindications
- Anticipated responses and results from using GT instruments on soft-tissue conditions
Hours 2.5 – 4
Participants will observe & then demonstrate proper handholds and treatment strokes using GT instruments.
- Introduction to the six GT stainless steel instruments
- Description of each instrument
- Proper handholds and treatment strokes
- Lab instruction in Scanning, Sweeping, Strumming, Brushing, Swiveling, Scooping, J-strokes, and Framing on anterior thigh
- How to make a soft-tissue assessment using instruments
Hours 4 – 4.5
Participants will select proper instruments and perform GT techniques (Scan, Sweep, Strum, Swivel, Scoop, Frame, Brush and J-stroke) on knee and thigh.
Thigh and Knee Labs:
- Scan, sweep, strum, frame and j-stroke the thigh and knee
- Detect soft-tissue adhesions in these areas
- Discuss proper instrument choice
- Perform treatment protocol
Hours 4.5 – 5
Participants will select proper instruments and perform GT techniques (Scan, Sweep, Strum, Swivel, Scoop, Frame, Brush and J-stroke) on pelvic region.
Hip, pelvis, and ITB Labs:
- Scan, Sweep, Strum, Frame and J-stroke the pelvic region
- Detect soft-tissue adhesions in these areas
- Discuss proper instrument choice
- Perform treatment protocol
Hours 5 – 5.5
Participants will select proper instruments and perform techniques on foot and ankle.
Foot and Ankle Labs:
- Scan, sweep, strum, and j-stroke on the foot and ankle
- Detect soft-tissue adhesions in these areas
- Discuss proper instrument choice
- Perform treatment protocol
Hours 5.5 – 5.75
Participants will discuss & observe techniques and treatment protocols on edema and scars.
Edema, and Scars:
- Scan, sweep, strum, and j-stroke
- Perform treatment protocol
Hours 5.75 – 7.25
Participants will identify & discuss concepts of clinical practice integration, updated GT research, documentation & billing concerns.

Participants will assess, and then based upon findings, select proper instruments and perform techniques on hand, forearm, and elbow.
Hand, Forearm, Elbow Labs:
- Scan, Sweep, Strum, and J-stroke the hand, forearm, and elbow
- Detect soft-tissue adhesions in these areas
- Discuss proper instrument choice
- Perform treatment protocol based upon findings
Hours 7.75 – 8.25
Participants will assess, and then based upon findings, select proper instruments and perform techniques on the shoulder.
Shoulder Labs:
- Scan, Sweep, Strum, and J-stroke on the shoulder
- Detect soft-tissue adhesions in these areas
- Discuss proper instrument choice
- Perform treatment protocol based upon findings
Hours 8.25 – 9
Participants will assess, and then based upon findings, select proper instruments and perform techniques on the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spines.
Cervical, Thoracic, and Lumbar Labs:
- Scan, Sweep, Strum, and J-stroke on the cervical, thoracic spines
- Detect soft-tissue adhesions in these areas
- Discuss proper instrument choice
- Perform treatment protocol based upon findings
Hours 9 – 9.25
Participants will identify available resources for further skill development.
