Detailed Insights Into Our Training Process and PreparationMETHODS & MATERIALS
Multiple teaching methods will be utilized consistent with the various levels of complexity of the learning objectives. These will include explanations, demonstrations, performance, feedback, teaching, supervised open practice, and case troubleshooting. Much of the time is spent in a hands-on, lab setting. Teaching materials include the PowerPoint presentation and Training Materials.
PREREQUISITES
Essential Training participants must be fully licensed professionals who possess a well-developed working knowledge of the human neuromusculoskeletal system and its major structures. A review of the anatomical structures of the spine, and upper and lower extremities is most appropriate prior to attending the course. Prior experience with manual therapy and manual soft tissue mobilization techniques are helpful.
CLOTHING REQUIREMENTS
Most of the training is in a lab setting with hands-on instrument instruction, so proper dress is required. Proper clothing includes loose-fitting athletic shorts (not spandex). For women, a top that can expose the scapula such as a racerback sports bra, low-cut tank top, or cami will allow your lab partners proper access to the body regions that we will treat. To prevent any potential emollient exposure to your clothing, it is optional to bring a towel for draping.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Clinicians are treated with Graston Technique instruments during the trainings. Any condition contraindicated for soft tissue mobilization is contraindicated for GT. We advise all pregnant clinicians to consult their treating doctor or healthcare provider before registering or attending a course.
COMPLETION REQUIREMENTS
Graston Technique Instructors determine by direct observation that all participants have attained an acceptable level of safe and effective techniques during laboratory practice sessions. Graston Technique maintains a low 14-16 participants: 1 instructor ratio so that all participants receive the feedback necessary to assure their skill acquisition and performance.
