Additional Advanced Training Information

METHODS & MATERIALS

Various teaching methods will be utilized consistent with the various levels of complexity of the stated learning objectives in order to assure their attainment at course completion. Teaching methods include lecture/discussion and instructor demonstration followed by laboratory practice. During laboratory practice sessions, small ratios of instructor-to-participants are available so that participants can receive ample instructor feedback as they practice. Teaching materials used include the  PowerPoint presentation, prepared case analyses, and the Participant Packet including its handouts.

PREREQUISITES

Advanced Training participants must hold a valid clinical license and must have successfully completed Essential Training. It is also recommended that participants currently be utilizing advanced orthopedic and functional testing in their clinical practices. A working knowledge of functional anatomy, human movement analysis, and the principles of regional interdependence, as they apply to injury recognition and treatment, are recommended. A review of the anatomical structures of the spine, and upper and lower extremities is most appropriate prior to attending the course.

CLOTHING REQUIREMENTS

Most of the training is in a lab setting with hands-on instrument instruction, so proper dress is required. Proper clothing includes loose-fitting athletic shorts (not spandex). For women, a top that can expose the scapula such as a racerback sports bra, low-cut tank top, or cami will allow your lab partners proper access to the body regions that we will treat. To prevent any potential emollient exposure to your clothing, it is optional to bring a towel for draping.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Clinicians are treated with Graston Technique instruments during the trainings. Any condition contraindicated for soft tissue mobilization is contraindicated for GT. We advise all pregnant clinicians to consult their treating doctor or healthcare provider before registering or attending a course.

COMPLETION REQUIREMENTS

Advanced training participants are assessed using an Advanced Training Rubric completed by the GT Instructor that verifies that each participant has achieved the acceptable level of Essential and Advanced learning activity performance by the completion of the course.
